Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cottage cheese – Adds creaminess and moisture.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour – Provides structure.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder – Helps the rolls rise.
  • ½ teaspoon salt – Enhances the flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter – For a rich, buttery taste.
  • 1 large egg – Adds fluffiness and binds everything together.
  • ¼ cup milk – Adjusts the dough consistency.
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar (optional) – For a hint of sweetness.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cottage cheese, melted butter, egg, milk, and honey (if using). Stir until a dough forms.
  4. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.

Step 2: Shape the Rolls

  1. Lightly flour your hands and divide the dough into 8-10 equal portions.
  2. Roll each portion into a ball and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.

Step 3: Bake the Rolls

  1. Brush the tops with a little melted butter for a golden finish.
  2. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown on top.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Serve warm with butter, jam, or a drizzle of honey.
  2. Pair with soups, salads, or enjoy as a quick snack.

Notes

  • Use Small-Curd Cottage Cheese: It blends better into the dough.
  • Make It Sweeter: Add a bit more honey or sugar for a lightly sweet version.
  • Brush with Egg Wash: For an extra golden crust, brush with beaten egg before baking.
  • Customize the Flavor: Add herbs, garlic powder, or shredded cheese to the dough for extra taste.
