Ingredients

Scale

For the Ravioli

  • 1 package (9-12 oz) cheese or beef ravioli (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Marinara Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil or parsley, chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Breading Station

  1. In a shallow bowl, add flour and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

Step 2: Bread the Ravioli

  1. Dip each ravioli into the flour, coating evenly.
  2. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off.
  3. Finally, coat in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick.
  4. Place breaded ravioli on a plate and repeat with the rest.

Step 3: Fry the Ravioli

  1. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry ravioli in batches, cooking for 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 4: Make the Marinara Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add marinara sauce, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes, stirring well.
  3. Simmer for 5 minutes, then stir in fresh basil or parsley.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

  1. Arrange the crispy ravioli on a platter.
  2. Serve hot with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping.
  3. Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs, if desired.

Notes

  • Use Fresh or Frozen Ravioli: If using frozen, make sure they’re thawed before breading.
  • Double Bread for Extra Crunch: For an extra crispy texture, dip the ravioli in the egg and breadcrumb mixture twice!
  • Keep the Oil at the Right Temperature: Too hot, and the ravioli will burn; too low, and they’ll absorb too much oil. 350°F (175°C) is perfect!
  • Bake Instead of Frying: Place breaded ravioli on a greased baking sheet, spray with oil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
