Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (secret to crispy skin!)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Optional Sauces:
- Buffalo sauce
- Honey garlic sauce
- BBQ sauce
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing (for dipping)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Wings
- Pat the wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (this helps them crisp up!).
- In a large bowl, toss wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Drizzle with olive oil and mix well to coat evenly.
Cooking Methods
Option 1: Oven-Baked Crispy Wings
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Arrange wings on the rack in a single layer.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
Option 2: Air-Fried Crispy Wings
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange wings in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
- Air fry for 20-25 minutes, shaking the basket every 5-7 minutes, until crispy and golden.
Option 3: Deep-Fried Crispy Wings
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry wings in batches for 8-10 minutes, until golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
Step 4: Toss in Sauce & Serve
- If using sauce, toss the wings in buffalo, honey garlic, or BBQ sauce while hot.
- Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Use Baking Powder – Helps dry out the skin for extra crispiness.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Space the wings out so they cook evenly.
- Flip & Rotate – Ensures even browning for perfectly golden wings.
- For Extra Crispy Wings – Bake or air-fry for an extra 5 minutes at the end.
