- ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Optional Additions:
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (for spice)
- ½ cup sautéed mushrooms or spinach (for extra veggies)
- ½ cup cooked chicken or shrimp (for a protein boost)
Instructions
Step 1: Sauté the Garlic
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 2: Toast the Orzo & Simmer
- Stir in orzo pasta and toast for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in chicken broth, stirring to combine.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Step 3: Make It Creamy & Cheesy
- Lower heat to medium-low and stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Stir until the sauce thickens and coats the orzo.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan.
- Serve warm as a side dish or a main course.
Notes
Toast the Orzo First – Adds a nutty depth of flavor.
Use Fresh Garlic – Enhances the overall richness.
For a Lighter Version – Swap heavy cream for whole milk or half-and-half.
Use Fresh Parmesan – It melts better and adds a richer taste.
