Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Mixture
- In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, chopped shrimp, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), parsley, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.
- Gently mix everything until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the cakes light and tender.
Step 2: Form the Cakes
- Divide the mixture into 6-8 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Place them on a plate and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
Step 3: Cook the Cakes
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Carefully place the crab and shrimp cakes in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like tartar sauce, remoulade, or lemon aioli.
- Garnish with extra parsley and lemon wedges.
Notes
- Use fresh seafood – Fresh crab and shrimp give the best texture and flavor.
- Don’t overmix – Gently combine ingredients to keep the cakes tender.
- Chill before frying – This helps the cakes stay together when cooking.
