Ingredients

Scale

For the Cobbler Base:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup milk

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the Magic Sauce:

  • 1 ½ cups hot water

Optional Toppings:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel drizzle

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare the Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

Step 2: Make the Batter

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Stir in melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Add the Cinnamon-Sugar Topping

  1. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the cobbler batter.

Step 4: Pour the Magic Sauce

  1. Carefully pour hot water over the top of the batter—DO NOT STIR!
  2. As the cobbler bakes, the water will combine with the cinnamon-sugar and create a delicious caramel-like sauce underneath.

Step 5: Bake Until Golden

  1. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
  2. The cobbler will be bubbly and slightly jiggly in the center, which is normal!

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy!

Let the cobbler cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Scoop into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the ultimate indulgence!

Notes

Don’t Stir the Water – Pouring the hot water over the batter helps create the signature caramel sauce.
Use a Deep Baking Dish – This cobbler creates a gooey bottom layer, so a deep dish helps prevent spills.
Let It Rest – The sauce thickens as it sits, making it even more delicious!
