Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana, mashed – Adds moisture and natural sweetness.
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted – Keeps the cookies soft.
- 1/2 cup brown sugar – Gives a deep, caramel-like sweetness.
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar – Balances the flavor.
- 1 egg – Helps bind everything together.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the flavor.
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – The base of the cookies.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda – Helps the cookies rise.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder – Adds extra lift.
- 1/2 teaspoon salt – Brings out all the flavors.
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) – A warm, cozy touch.
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips – Use milk, dark, or even white chocolate!
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cookie Dough
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed banana, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 2: Shape and Bake the Cookies
- Scoop out dough using a cookie scoop or tablespoon and place on the lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Step 3: Enjoy!
- Serve warm for gooey chocolatey goodness or store for later snacking!
Notes
- Use a very ripe banana – The more brown spots, the better the sweetness!
- Don’t overmix the dough – This keeps the cookies soft and tender.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes if you want thicker cookies.
- Swap chocolate chips – Try white chocolate, peanut butter chips, or dark chocolate chunks.
