Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli florets, finely chopped (steamed or blanched)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ cup milk (for dipping, optional if frying)
- Oil for frying (if frying)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Broccoli
Steam or blanch the broccoli for 2-3 minutes, then finely chop it. Let it cool slightly.
Step 2: Make the Mixture
In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cheddar cheese, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and flour. Mix until everything sticks together. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
Step 3: Shape into Balls
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
Step 4: Coat the Balls
Roll each ball in milk (if frying), then in breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
Step 5: Cook the Broccoli Cheese Balls
Option 1: Frying (Extra Crispy)
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the balls in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Drain on a paper towel.
Option 2: Baking (Healthier Option)
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Lightly spray with oil and bake for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
Option 3: Air Frying (Crispy & Light)
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the balls in a single layer in the basket.
- Air-fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Step 6: Serve & Enjoy!
Let the broccoli cheese balls cool slightly, then serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
