Ingredients
- 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 teaspoon fresh chopped parsley or chives for garnish
Optional Toppings:
Shredded cheese
Roasted garlic butter
Crumbled cooked turkey bacon
Sour cream or Greek yogurt
Instructions
Step 1: Slice the Potatoes
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place each potato between two wooden spoons or chopsticks—this helps prevent cutting all the way through.
- Use a sharp knife to make thin, even slices, about ⅛ to ¼ inch apart, stopping before the base so the potato stays intact.
Step 2: Season the Potatoes
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil (or butter), garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Using a basting brush, coat the potatoes generously, making sure to get oil into the slices.
Step 3: Air Fry Until Crispy
- Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
- Air fry for 25-30 minutes, checking halfway through.
- Brush with more oil or butter if needed for extra crispiness.
Step 4: Add Parmesan & Garnish
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top 5 minutes before finishing for a cheesy crust.
- Remove from the air fryer, sprinkle with fresh parsley or chives, and serve hot!
Notes
Use Even-Sized Potatoes – So they cook at the same rate.
Slice Thinly, But Not All the Way Through – This creates the signature crispy edges!
Brush Oil in Between Slices – Helps ensure maximum crispiness.
Reheat in Air Fryer – Pop leftovers back in at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
